Emboss Resist Bliss: Sale-a-bration Sneak Peek

Here's another Emboss Resist project. We made up this calendar cover at my downline meeting earlier this month using the new Sale-a-bration 2011 stamp set "Bliss". I debated whether or not it was too early for a sneak peek, but since I just posted another emboss resist project yesterday, I thought I'd go ahead and share this one now.

I started by stamping the flourish in Versamark ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and embossing with Clear Embossing Powder. Then I sponged Marina Mist over the embossed image (which resists the ink). I used a quarter of a round Stampin' Sponge and "burnished" the ink over the image. Use a small circle motion to rub the ink over the cardstock. The splatter effect is created using the Color Spritzer Tool and Basic Black marker.

My style is usually very clean and simple. My first draft of this project was this monochromatic card.

I felt like it needed more, so I ramped up the vintage style and then turned the card into a pocket calendar cover. The calendar is the perfect thing to keep in the car to track mileage (don't forget to write down your "start" mileage tomorrow as we start a new year!) -- or take it with to workshops so you always know your "next available date".

Supplies: Bliss (SAB set), Marina Mist ink & cardstock, Basic Black ink & cardstock, Very Vanilla cardstock, Versamark ink, First Edition DSP (Occasions Mini), Clear Embossing Powder, Rhinestone Jewel Accents, Large Oval Punch, Victoria Crochet Trim, Color Spritzer Tool
